I’ve taught preschool and college freshmen, and the attention spans weren’t all that different as it turns out (one had toys, the other iPhones). Jokes aside, my experience in the classroom taught me there no one-size-fits-all solutions when it comes to learning. This idea shaped the designer I am today.

Comm 101
Led a weekly discussion class to accompany the professor’s lecture
I collaborated with the professor and other teaching assistants to develop talking points and assignments for discussion class while emphasizing core principles of communication. I was in charge of grading, being the students’ first point of contact, and frequent reminders to students to cite their work. 😏
COM Writing Center
Mentored COM undergrads one paper at a time
The College of Communication (COM) Writing Center wasn’t a copyediting service. I helped students look at the structure of their assignments and hone their craft across communication tracks, such as journalism, PR, and advertising.

The Little Mole International Preschool & KinderGarten
Taught littles (ages 3-6) the ABCs in circle time
I love working with kids for all the interesting and funny things kids they say. I taught in 2 different preschools during my time in Prague and developed weekly lesson plans for a class size of about 10-12 kids. I monitored their safety, mitigated behavioral issues and kept an open line of communication with parents. I also crafted monthly newsletters and school marketing materials.

Learned how to teach English abroad
I spent 4 weeks in an intensive 1 teaching program, not just relearning some of the grammar rules but methodologies of how to teach. We were required to complete 18 hours of hands-on classroom practice. I learned how to break down language barriers to improve comprehension.
